Connecting Internet over wired Ethernet connection (DHCP):
Assume that you have a wired ethernet connection. It can be
a DHCP or a Static IP setting. Lets assume you have a DHCP connection. Please
follow following steps to connect the DHCP Internet.
1. Click on the Connection icon available on Desktop.
2. It will start "Internet Connection Wizard".
Click on button beside "Wired or wireless LAN".
3. "Network Connection Wizard" should be open.
Since we are going to connect over DHCP, please click on "Simple Network
Setup.
4. "Simple Network Wizard" should be open. It will
show all LAN cards plugged into the system, select the LAN interface where DHCP
is connected to setup. Let's say its eth0. Click on eth0 button.
5. If the DHCP network is ok, it will connect to the DHCP on
eth0 and confirm successful connection with following window. Click on OK and
we are done.
If you want to configure a static IP, please follow next
step.
Connecting Internet over wired Ethernet connection (Static
IP):
1. Now, lets configure static IP on the system.Click on the
Connection icon available on Desktop.
2. It will start "Internet Connection Wizard".
Click on button beside "Wired or wireless LAN".
3. "Network Connection Wizard" should be open.
Since we are going to connect through Static IP, please click on Network Wizard
button.
4. "Puppy Network Wizard" should be open. It will
show all LAN cards plugged into the system, select the LAN interface where we
will setup static IP. Let's say its eth0. Click on eth0 button.
5. "Configure network interface eth0" should
appear. Click on Static IP button.
Set Static IP window should be on the screen. Give your IP
credentials on the form on the specified filed i.e. IP address, Net Mask,
Gateway, DNS and Click on OK Button.
There will be some other windows seeking for various
confirmations. Click on OK/YES/SAVE/DONE buttons until you see Configure
Network Interface eth0 again. press DONE button on that window, and we are done
with the Static IP settings.
